Nathalie, nice to meet you

I’m Nathalie with an ‘H’ –pronounced like Natalie –nice to meet you.

I grew up in Lima, Peru, a coastal city in South America more populous than NYC, and dubbed “The City of Kings” by the Spaniards.

My family relocated to Los Angeles when I was young. I later moved 90 miles north to attend UC Santa Barbara, where I graduated with a B.A in English, and a minor in Spanish, (or a degree in Spanglish, as the scholars call it).

My broadcast career began in college radio –at KCSB FM 91.9 I started out as Special Projects Reporter, often traveling up to San Francisco and Sacramento to cover UC Regents meetings, student protests, university workers’ strikes, and the governor’s budget. I later served as general assignment reporter, anchor, engineer, and Assistant News Director.

My TV debut came with Univision Costa Central. I wore many hats there, too –reporter, photographer, editor, and producer. I also served as the immigration beat reporter, delivering stories of most relevance to Univision’s Hispanic audience.

I later joined KCOY-TV, the CBS-affiliate in Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties, where I enjoyed the beach and good weather while telling stories I care about most –social justice, crime, shelter pups, and everything in between.

I moved to Fresno right at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, serving the Hispanic audience with the Univision station in town. Now I’m at KSEE 24/CBS 47, waking up bright and early for the morning news!

When I’m not working, I’m either reading, catching up with friends, tanning at the beach, or doing marathons (binge-watching shows on Netflix, that is).

I love meeting new people, places, spaces and opportunities. Another day, another story. And somebody’s got to tell it.
